Excellent product, performs perfectly. By: bill
It took a little getting used to shutting the power off or the battery back up runs down. The battery backup is a great feature in case the power is cut off and a save is not complete but you have to turn off the power by holding the power button in. You can't just turn off a remote power supply.
Great Piece of Audio Equipment! By: CJB66
I bought as an upgrade my studio that I use primarily for podcasting and voiceover work. I have been recording my shows in Adobe Audition for years but always wanted to get out of recording with computer software. I have have been playing around with this for the last couple of days and it is absolutely great! Once I test out all the bells and whistles I will leave a more extensive review but ease of use and quality of recordings were my top concerns and this beauty passes with flying colors.
So glad I bought this...... By: Steve Miller
Don't even think twice! Well built, a nice addition to one of my FX racks. Just order it, records with excellent sound........
Easy to Use and Great Recording By: Kindle Customer
It's Tascam...need I say more? I can easily have a recorded mixdown of a song and easily apply my mastering afterwards. I'm recording everything now and comparing them to all my mixdowns in the studio. Great recorder!
Excellent product. Well built, easy to use. By: Tom
Excellent product. Well built, easy to use. Does not have all the "extras" that can sometimes get in the way when you are just looking for simplicity. I am very pleased. This item is used in my church that has a regular congregation of 200 and an online following of our podcast reaching over 3000.
Recording or playing prerecorded from a rack mounted rig? By: Granville Miller

great digital recorder for the money.
Awsome quality and sound. By: Dj-Kokorio
Records right out of the box, just select which input to record. Has lots of settings if you choose to use them, i use it to record my Vinyl Records. Just plug your turntable to the rca inputs and hit the record button, its that simple! No need for useing a pc and software and editing, such a hassle. This is the way to go. Just make sure if you use a magneting cartrige turntable, youll need a preamp, you can get one here, i use the small PYLE brand, sold here on amazon. Works like a champ. The recordings go directly to SD card. It records in many formats, i use mp3 at 192kbps the recordings come out beautiful. Recomended.

Fantastic. Clean. Easy. Cheap. Built like a tank. Very quiet recording with speed and precision.
Zoom R8 Multitrack SD Recorder Controller and Interface
the standard features of this product are expected, but the true power of this unit and what sets this apart from other compact/portable digital recorders is you can record all different sources at the same time with this unit. this outperforms what my computer and its editing software can do together. this is TRUE SIMULTANEOUS MULTI-TRACK DIGITAL RECORDING !! you can record 8 monaural instruments/sources at the same time, then its very easy to transfer tracks to your computer via the SD card to then perform further editing and post-production.

Easy to use and fantastic on board capabilities By: Amazon Customer
I purchased the Tascam DP 03SD and returned it. Bought this one and haven't looked back. I'm not a recording engineer, just a normal guitar player with a day job who can't stand over complex recording gear. This is a fantastic product. If you're looking for a highly functional recorder, this is it. By "highly functional" I mean this thing does it all. Great digital guitar effects, good drum kit / pattern selections, passable bass emulator, and no, the digital version of a Twinnie won't sound like a true Fender Twin Reverb, but will do the job, With all that said, here are my pro/con dealios:Pro:- Works "out of the box." No need to program, simple instructions and very easy to set up and plug and play. You will need to follow the instructions. I've read reviews that say the recorder is tough to use. Nonsense. Read the instructions, and if you need additional help, there are plenty of YouTube videos out there that will help.- Great for recording simple ideas and then overlaying with new tracks on the same track. Then just pick the one you dig, and keep it. This allows for multiple guitar / bass etc... ideas without having to dedicate additional tracks.- SD card. Nuff said.- Great for jam session. I recorded with 4 other musicians - used the onboard mic and it worked great. Again, you're not going to get studio quality live sound. This is under 300 bucks.- Small & doesn't take up room. Want a Neve 8070 in your living room? Neither do I. Thank God for new tech. (do I want a Neve 8070? That's a new discussion....).Cons:- Honestly, not many. Maybe the screen is tough to read in direct sunlight? It wont write music for me? If there's an EMP attack while your recording this will go bye by? Yea, cant think of any negatives with this one.Does the job it's supposed to do. Simple recorder to use with solid core. For the price, tough to beat.

Best bang for the buck By: bretroactive
This simply rocks! I just record on the R16, put the SD card into my computer and dump tracks into my DAW, and the sound quality is superb. You can punch in/out manually or set each point, and it is seamless. I get results that rival professionally recorded tracks.
Records 192 kbps audio files directly to SD card or USB drive via line in jacks or XLR jacks
Compatible with SD/SDHC cards and USB drives up to 32GB
Dual recorder design allows for independent recording/playback on each side

Digital Recording with your Vintage Gear. By: Brett Bump
This thing is great. I put it in a rack with all my vintage gear and if I want to record something from my Tascam mixer direct to mp3 this will do it. Don't mind the specs saying this will only work with SD cards up to 32gig, as long as you reformat a 64gig card it will work fine. I love my old cassette and reel-to-reel machines, but if you want to store your music in digital format offline from tape, this is the ticket.

Great in our Church's Sound Rack By: Adventurer
Purchased this unit for our church to install in our sound rack so that we don't have to record services to CD's anymore. After a bit of trial and error (identifying extra cables needed) with the set-up the unit is now working great and is a workhorse. The recording quality has been fine for our purposes which is a mixture of voice, and live music. Being able to move away from CD's is just awesome and it makes it so much easier to have ready a digitally recorded format to post directly to our web page. The system is not perfect, but most of the bugs honestly were just us getting the unit set-up and getting acquainted with how it works. For us it is definitely a five star product now that we have it online and working as we had hoped.
Excellent product would easily recommend By: John Perry
Outstanding recorder and this is my first time using a Digital Recorder such as this in a setting where I want to record tracks and audio from various sources. I was able to plug it all in and put the audio input cable from my mixer and Sterling Audio ST-51 microphone and make a quality recording within minutes. It took me about ten minutes at most to understand how to use the recorder and how all the function buttons work out. Its a good quality recorder for the price in the 200 to 300 dollar range. I considered buying a lesser recorder for sale here in the 120 to 150 dollar range but I went ahead and spent the extra 80 bucks and got something that I really like and have been pleased with over the last couple of days. They also provide as they should a proper manual that shows you what to do unlike some of the cheap 100 to 150 dollar recorders being sold here. The shipping box was excellent and the package showed up as it was supposed to. Other than UPS ground being painstakingly slow at almost a week, its a great little product. Not to mention it also has various microphone inputs and outputs as well as places for phono cable inputs and outputs. Properly built and designed, its easy to use and to learn quickly if you have any electronic know how. Even if not, read your manual and you will be up and running in no time. One thing you will want to do depending on your recording circumstances is to purchase some extra cables for the inputs and outputs and then even some microphone cables to hook to your microphone directly. In my current setup, I have a Sterling Audio ST51 that I recently purchased new for about 70 bucks which is a 5 star microphone rating at places like Guitar Center. My microphone is fed into a Behringer Mixer as are other components and then into the recorder. However, if you want to record straight from the microphone to the recorder and bypass the mixer then you can hook up microphone cords to the provided sockets and then use your microphone that way. I was very impressed with the quality and build of the product as well. It will make a nice first piece in the audio rack system I am building piece by piece. Most of my recording experience over the years came either using reel to reel machines, tape decks, or other audio components or even my computer. This is the first stand alone digital recorder I have purchased and easily impressed by how you can record easily with this product. The only negative is that they don't provide a SD/USB card for the device so you'll have to spend a few bucks to get something like a 16GB or maybe a 32GB SD card or USB drive to record your tracks on. Very pleased with this product.
really like this unit works great By: brian
really like this unit works great. not flimsy and like how all knobs and buttons have a little stiffness. doesnt feel like it will break. it does time stamp, some complaints about it not which may of been on earlier models.
If you're looking for an SD/USB player/recorder, search no more... By: Evagelos Kobiliris
VOCO PRO SDR4000Excellent professional dual usb/sd card player/recorder with great scanning/reading time.Great look, easy access buttons, dual (blue lighted) screens, great sd-card loading mechanisms, easy scrolling menu, led vu-meters over each recording input knobs and of course RCA & XLR inputs/outputs on the back.(Most brands in the market have RCS only which make them a little difficult to connect them to a mixing board for professional use..)Can read and record (192kbs) to any SD/SDHC card up to 32GB and USB sticks 32GB as well. Of course when using SD cards for recording it's preferred to use the pro SDHC 32GB cards.I use my new LEXAR Platinum II (200x) SDHC 32 GB & LEXAR Gold Professional (630x) cards for recording/playback.Big Plus I:It can also scan any audio (mp3) folder and read its mp3s no matter what how the folder or mp3s are labeled, which means that you don't have to rename a folder or an mp3 specifically for the player to be able to read it.You can listen/monitor a playback/recording session by connecting a headphone set in the front of the unit and adjust of course the output volume from the headphones knob (also in the front of the unit).Minus:It doesn't have remaining time on playback and remaining time on recording on screen view which means that when playing a file you don't know the remaining time of it and the same on recording (Don't know the remaining of the card left time capability).Compering it with other units in the market it's very superior in many ways! The model is an excellent choice for home or professional use and I recommended it fearlessly!Recommended for studios, radio stations, public places (where music is nessasary) e.t.c.The price is fair enough (e.g. Tascam recorder has the same features and it costs around $1000).Big Plus II:It's designed and manufactured in the United States of America (in California)and not in China as any other unit in the market!!! (Very important for me!!!)

I record all my shows live on stage . I just set and forget for continuous recording just like cassette . San disc is quicker in response time than USB ,so I use the SD all the time . Recordings sound much better then cassette . Mostly stop and reset to get each song when I have time on the stage so that I can down load each song to C D 's . The one thing I do not like is the A C cord design style female end . It can be disconnected very easy . This should be changed to the better larger standard like most other makes .

... just a little bit of experimenting and made a good clear recording By: Housemouse
It is User friendly with just a little bit of experimenting and made a good clear recording. The MP3 files are usable on a variety of platforms. The choice of USB port or Sandisk is nice. The record mode has three stages, Setup, Ready and Record. During record the counter will keep track of the time. The Stop button will finish the file for use. Sandisk is has to be the old type. won't take SDHC.
